The 'boom' of work in solar energy: data and forecasts

La International Energy Agency (IEA) in its report Energy Technology Perspectives 2023, has shown that jobs related to clean energy will double in 2030. We will go from the current 6 million jobs to almost 14 million, of which more than half will be related to electric vehicles, photovoltaic solar energy, wind energy and heat pumps.
In addition, it points to the opportunity of a highly profitable global market related to clean energy technologies. We would be talking about benefits of 600 billion euros per year by 2030.
More jobs in solar energy
Globally, the renewable energy sector has 12.7 million jobs. In Spain, the renewable energy subsector registered a growth of 43%, one of the most job offers. Between May 2022 and April 2023, offers related to the energy sector grew by 55%.
As of today, offers from assemblers and installers of solar energy panels have risen 55.48% year-on-year, followed closely by technical engineers, with growth of 51.77% year-on-year.
Photovoltaic, the sector with the most opportunities
Spain will generate some 350,000 direct jobs and just over 118,000 indirect jobs over this decade, so we would be talking about the fact that almost 500,000 new jobs will depend on renewable energy.
In the case of photovoltaic, it will be the renewable sector that will create the most employment returns. According to APPA, out of every 100 jobs, 68 will last 20 years.
Andalusia and Castile and León will be the leading communities in this employment growth. However, currently, 22% of the positions offered in this category are in Madrid.
